As the Madrid mercury rises, so do its terrazas—the city rooftops, to be exact. So when visiting the Spanish capital, here’s your list of top spots to check out for a good drink, dinner, or day in the sun.

For a swanky cocktail

Madrid knows how to serve up a pretty spectacular cocktail, so to up the fancy factor you have several rooftop options. Head to the terraza-filled Plaza de Santa Ana, where you'll find the ME Hotel’s posh, and occasionally tourist-filled, The Roof. For a gastronomical feast

One of Spain’s newest and most fashionable terrazas rises out of the gay-friendly Chueca district, atop the recently refurbished Mercado de San Antón. To get there, you’ll pass through two market floors filled with fresh fare ranging from fish, to veggies and made-to-order croquetas. For pool time
