Urban Style Guide—Anne shares her top beauty hot spots in London and reveals her favourite local designers

There's nothing like getting insider tips on a city by a local. Now, make that a stylish local. In our Urban Style Guides we tap into some of the best sources to uncover urban beauty and fashion highlights and ask fashion and style bloggers to dish out their local favourites.

This week we chatted to Anne Davies, writer of the beauty and style blog The Satirical Stylist. In her style files, Anne shows us how Tank Girl wears leopard prints with dazzling pink nails and reveals her insider tips for London.anne-davies2

WHAT DO YOU LOOK FOR WHEN YOU GO SHOPPING?
It really depends on my mood and budget. I believe in sticking to my means when it comes to shopping, so at the minute I am keeping things very simple so that I can recycle and play around with what already exists in my wardrobe. I generally aim to pick out plain base items that fit well and then bring in colour through cardigans, tights, oversized shirts and so on. Although in saying that, in complete contradiction I’ll splurge on something completely unnecessary that doesn’t go with anything I own, just because I can’t help myself. (I’m getting better though.)

THE BEST BEAUTY HOT SPOTS IN LONDON?
After living in New York I became a little obsessed with manicures and pedi’s, next to coffee and good conversation. So getting my nails done is one of my fave pastimes. Foster London is a gorgeous boutique style salon in Shoreditch that does amazing nails, I love going there getting my nails done while being offered coffee and cupcakes!

WHICH UNIQUE URBAN FASHION BRANDS DO YOU FANCY?
I have to name my current obsession: Kelly Love. Although strictly speaking she is not exactly local… Kelly is an Australian fashion designer who is now located in London so she is local now I suppose. The minute I spotted her designs I was filled with want, I often visit her site to re-look over it all, I want everything she makes. I haven’t yet invested as her prices are over my budget but I look forward to doing so at some point.

DRINK & DINE IN STYLE
Broadway Market is lovely but gets a little overcrowded, there are some fab places opening up along Chatsworth Road too, which are nice to dip in and out of. I love heading southwest for a change of scenery. Fulham, High Street Kensington and The Kings Road all have great coffee and lunch spots and are perfect for sitting outside and soaking up the city.
