Gifts for Geeks like Liara T'Soni, Harry Potter castle XMAS CHALLENGE
Christmas Guide - Day 7: The Geek Gift Quest

If you're into video games, cult scifi, and names like Felicia Day, Wil Wheaton - or brands like Bethesda and Ubisoft ring a bell, you're probably already sharing the universe with that geek sister/ brother of yours.
But if not - do you want to give them the same old iTunes gift card? While there's nothing wrong with an iTunes gift card (I'll take five, thankyouverymuch!) why not surprise them with some deeper knowledge of the scene?
This online guide will be your map to a fabulous world of fantasy and creative freedom... on your Quest to find a perfect geek gift.

GLOBAL: GEEKS, GAMES - GORGEOUS
Think Geek is probably the most famous site - check out their huge selection of the finest nerderies! (Okay, I just made up this word, but you get the idea.) This site will solve any problem as of "what to give to my geeky sister/ brother". Here you find stuff that makes anyone happy, whether Star Trek or Star Wars fan. Check out the great kids section, too! http://www.thinkgeek.com  Get cosplay ideas, geeky t-shirts and toys, and a lot of inspiration here: http://fashionablygeek.com
An amazing site dedicated to stunning designs - under 5$! - and geeky gift ideas, for example Zombie jerkies or fake hydrants to have yourself your own parking lot: http://www.fivedollarfinds.com
This list wouldn't be complete without a ridiculously awesome Etsy shop, would it? Check out http://www.etsy.com/shop/GeekOUTlet for gamer-related jewellery.
DVD/ BluRay idea: still an insider's tip to some is Joss Whedon's (Buffy, Toy Story, Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog, The Avengers) imaginative cult space western series Firefly (and the movie: Serenity), starring Nathan Fillion, Jewel Staite, Summer Glau (before the Terminator years), Morena Baccarin.

ARTSY GEEKINESS
Geek love! On the website of the renowned artist Adam Hughes you'll find beautiful posters of comic heroines (Lara, Supergirl, Catwoman), of the Firefly cast, of some game heroes (Uncharted) along with a DVD for aspiring comic artists "How to draw good girls": http://www.justsayah.com
These indie websites bring together people with gorgeous ideas (aspiring designers, photographers, illustrators) and people like yourself, looking for a kewl gift: http://www.rodeoarcade.com (apparel) and http://society6.com (tees, art prints, iPad covers, iPod covers - a lot of dark, vinyl, typography, humour, film, and fashion designs). On http://www.redbubble.com, another creative community, you'll find more hipster-like goodness but do also check out their Day of the Dead section for your dear goth-minded geek.
DVD/ BluRay ideas: Any of the good comic screen adaptation will do: Batman, Iron Man, The Avengers. And not a single geek's film selection should lack Metropolis, Fritz Lang's expressionist masterpiece.

STEAMPUNK GEEKINESS

If you have a sister (sorry, guys!) that digs that Neo Victorian steampunk esthetics, make her a greeting card using this free Flash game, Steampunk Costume Creator! Note: remember to stay fair - it's strictly for non-commercial use.
A fabulous Etsy find is the shop http://www.etsy.com/shop/YouniquelyChic offering unique jewelry design inspired by the era of the steam but utterly original (no owls, mustaches, gears or nixie tubes - which are not Steampunk anyway!)

DVD/ BluRay idea: Luc Besson's The extraordinary adventures of Adèle Blanc-Sec, with a wonderful performance of Louise Bourgoin.

CRAFTSY GEEKINESS
Geeks often happen to be crafters. Why? Well, good con or cosplay costumes don't grow on a tree!
To make crafters happy, nothing says "I think your hobby is just grand" quite like a rock solid tool: http://www.silhouetteamerica.com/selectASilhouette.aspx
A 3D desk top printer is future, today. It's not cheap, starting at approx. 2'199$, but it will make you a geek rock star: https://store.makerbot.com
DVD/ BluRay idea: get some 80ies mad-scientist fun with Weird Science, an 1985 classic
