Urban Style Guide—Rebecca reveals her top shopping tips, local designers and best kept secrets in her city

One of the best things about traveling is shopping. Amsterdam is a great place to shop. From luxury fashion to emerging Dutch designers and vintage gems, the shopping mecca of the Netherlands leaves no wish unfulfilled. In our Urban Style Guides we tap into some of the best sources to discover local highlights and ask fashion and style bloggers to open up their little black book for you.

Our Style Guide of the Week comes from Rebecca, who writes the style blog Raspberry & Rouge. With her rock chic meets classic style look, this Amsterdam local shows us how to mix lace and leather and reveals her favourite hot spots... So, let's take note here.amsterdam-style

WHAT DO YOU LOOK FOR WHEN YOU GO SHOPPING, REBECCA?
When I'm looking for something new, it doesn't have to be on trend necessarily. I'm looking for something I'm attracted to, something I can wear for special occasions, or something I can pair with everything in my closet. Items can be brand new, or vintage for that matter. As long as it fits my personal style!

THE BEST SPOTS FOR SHOPPING IN AMSTERDAM?
There are so many great shops in Amsterdam! It's hard to choose just a few! So, I'll try to narrow it down... I always go to either the city centre, where you can find all the high street brands like H&M or ZARA. Or, I opt for the "Nine Streets" full of many cute little shops, also great if you're looking for something more exclusive. You'll find Acne, Rika and COS here, but also the amazing vintage shop called Episode!

WHICH UNIQUE LOCAL FASHION BRANDS DO YOU FANCY?
Although I don't own many Dutch designer clothes, I can always dream away by seeing the designs of Jan Taminiau, Ilja Visser, Viktor & Rolf or Iris van Herpen. Also, I do own lots of stuff (as does my boyfriend) of the Amsterdam based Scotch & Soda. There's a lot of creativity here!

DRINK & DINE IN STYLE
I love to go to little cafes or diners, preferably in the Jordaan area. I love "Van Harte" in the Hartenstraat, "Noordwest" on the Noordermarkt or "Singel 404" on the Singel. Or go and enjoy a yummie meal at "Hotel de Goudfazant" in the northern part of Amsterdam, "De Italiaan" on the Bosboom Toussaintstraat or "Witteveen" on the Centuurbaan. Ultimate tip for cocktails: "Vesperbar" on the Vinkenstraat in the Jordaan area.

What about you, where do you shop in Amsterdam?
