Asian Fusion or Spanish Lover? We have tried and tested London's Top Fashionable Tapas-style Food Spots

With such a multitude of food hotspots and variety of culinary experiences, it's hard to choose in London. A favourite for weekend getaways in autumn for shopping trips, London has to offer just as good of a post-shopping experience. For people seeking to enjoy a delicious lunch or escape the shopping buzz, here are our top 3 hotspots for tapas-style small dishes to share and try. Asian Fusion Style and Spanish. Yes, we love to order 15 dishes and try them all!

YAUATCHA - A stylish dining experience, in Soho
The contemporary dim sum house of Yauatcha is simply incredible. Specialising in modern authentic dim sum and other small treats, Yauatcha is a modern reinterpretation of the traditional Chinese teahouse. Both stylish and cool, the cocktails here are just as good as the food. In fact, I don't think we've ever eaten more delicious dumplings and dim sum anywhere else (and we tried a lot). If you know traditional Chinese Yum Cha lunch, well some of these dishes are pretty similar, only the venue and servings are much more stylish and glamorous. (see top image). Definitely go for a wide selection of dumplings, we loved the prawn dumplings and have never eaten before spring rolls with truffle - it's a must try, extremely delicious.

ROKA - Chic shopping retreat, near Oxford St

ROKA-LONDON-BAR

We stumbled into ROKA by chance, in search for an asian style lunch restaurant. And sometimes, you can get so lucky you want to stay for dinner too!

With a mix of grill, fish, meat and vegetables prepared right in the middle of the diner, we got one of the best spots sitting on one of the tables surrounding the kitchen counter. The ambience throughout was cosy, not too fancy, comfortable yet stylish. The ROKA interior is rustic yet contemporary complemented by exotic har
dwoods. Ordering plain sashimi or sushi here would be a faux pas. Best is to go for the dishes that your neighbours are ordering, it seems many are regulars and some dishes can be found on all tables (like the fish wrapped in leafs). Definitely try the seaweed salad with honey and sansho dressing (it's the most exquisite seaweed salad we ever tried).

Another amazing out of this world dish is 'kihada maguro no tataki' yellowfin tuna tataki with apple mustard dressing.

PIX PINTXOS - Spanish Tapas for a little something in between, near Covent Garden

We almost didn't see this tiny little hotspot in the wall. PIX Pintxos serves a tantalising array of miniature tapas all set along the bar. The atmosphere is very relaxed and cosy. The system works pretty easy because there’s no menu or ordering involved. You can just take a plate and help yourself to the ever-changing selection of mouth-watering dishes displayed across the bar. All pintxos are priced at either £2.25 (indicated by a shorter skewer) or £3.25 (for a longer one). A must-try are the tomato meatballs and exceptionally yummy is the tortilla with sweet potato and spinach. Of course order a cheeky glas of red with it. Perfect for a little lunch in between.
