50 Years of Fashion.
From luxury fashion brand Balenciaga to a new industry that is brewing
Founded in 2004 in Madrid, the Museo del Traje celebrates the history of Spanish fashion and costume from the most ancient times up to contemporary designers.
The young and modern instituion presents a permanent exhibition and regular temporary highlights every year. From footwear to accessories and jewellery, from Spanish Haute Couture designers Pedro Rodríguez to luxury Spanish fashion brands Balenciaga to the present - this place is a playground for any fashion lover.
The Costume Museum is in constant motion and fashion pieces are displayed for a while and then stored again for better preservation. Hence, the permanent exhibition changes every year.
Starting this week from May 13 to August 2014 the museum opens a new exhibition called SPAIN ON FASHION showcasing 50 YEARS OF FASHION. The ready- to-wear designers replaced the classic couture and fashion designers, and so starts a new period characterized by freshness and finding new ways of expression.
